How the dates work
Every job has an interval and a last done date. The next due date is the last done date plus one interval. A job you have not done yet counts from today, so it is due one interval from now.
Month ends are counted from the original date, never by adding a month to the previous result. 31 January plus one month is 28 February, or 29 February in a leap year; plus two months it is 31 March. That is the same rule the app uses.
The 12-month calendar shows every occurrence of every selected job, including the repeats ahead. The calendar file uses one event per job, with a repeat rule. A monthly job due on the 31st repeats on the last day of each month. One due on the 29th or 30th gets 12 dated events instead, so every calendar shows the same dates as the app.
What the files are for
- Calendar file (.ics): import it into Apple Calendar, Google Calendar or Outlook. Each event is all-day and repeats on the job’s interval.
- CSV: the same columns as the app’s export, for a spreadsheet or a record. The app does not import CSV.
- Print checklist: one page, grouped by area, with a tick box and the next due date for each job.
Where the intervals come from
The ready-made jobs and their intervals are the app’s own defaults, not advice. The how often pages give the sourced range for each job and say when the app’s default differs. The full list of sources is on the sources page.
Schedule maker questions
What does the schedule maker do?
It turns the jobs you choose into real dates. Pick the areas, tick the jobs, set how often and when each was last done, and it works out the next due date, the 12 months ahead and the files you can download.
Does it store my data?
Only in your browser. The tool keeps your last inputs in your browser’s storage and in the page address, so a link you share includes them. Nothing is sent to a server.
Can I import the CSV into the app?
No. The app exports CSV but does not import it. The CSV is for a spreadsheet or a record; the calendar file is the one to import into a calendar.
What happens at the end of a month?
A monthly job is counted from the original date, so 31 January plus one month is 28 February (29 in a leap year), not 3 March. The calendar file handles the month end in the way that keeps the same dates in Apple Calendar and Google Calendar.
Can I print the checklist?
Yes. Choose Print checklist and the print stylesheet lays the jobs out by area with a tick box and the next due date for each one.
Are the intervals advice?
They are the app’s ready-made defaults. The how-often pages give the sourced ranges and say when the app’s default differs; you can change any interval here.
